MARINE SCIENCE

With the sea just at the end of our road, King Richard III College is the perfect place to study Marine Science because Mallorca is home to a number of Nature Reserves such as the Cabrera archipelago and Dragonera.

Since terrestrial habitats comprise less than one third of the surface of the Earth, the marine environment and its inhabitants are exciting and stimulating subjects for amateur naturalists and students.

A LEVEL

The AS and A Level Marine Science (Cambridge syllabus 9693) includes a scientific study of the sea and its ecosystems and how human activities have an impact on the marine environment. The course provides a coherent and stimulating introduction to the science of the marine environment.

The teacher of Marine Science is an experienced marine biologist and diver and students who take the course are taken on SCUBA adventures as part of their field work.

Students will learn about marine life, productivity in the ocean and relationships between organisms.

During the first year of the Marine Science course, students concentrate on the scientific study of the sea and its ecosystems. The second year of the course (A2) concentrates on human activities that depend on the sea and have an impact on it.
