At King Richard III College, our dedicated Pastoral Team support all students as they progress through secondary school, looking after their day-to-day wellbeing, guiding them through the obstacle course of adolescence, promoting core values and encouraging them to reach their potential personally and as young citizens.
Our Pastoral system provides a strong framework of care which surrounds and supports every student. Each day begins with form time led by the Form Tutors and Assistant Form Tutors. Students attend weekly whole school assemblies with thought-provoking presentations by teachers, students and guest speakers.
All students participate in 3 PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic education) sessions a week. PSHE lessons are led by the tutors and follow the UK DfE guidelines which are based on the Every Child Matters outcomes.
PSHE lessons are dynamic and interactive, involving plenty of group work, discussion, case studies, workshops, and role plays.
PSHE is divided into 2 broad areas as follows:
Personal Wellbeing:
- Personal identities
- Healthy lifestyle
- Risk
- Relationships
- Diversity
Economic Wellbeing & Financial Capability:
- Career
- Capability
- Risk
- Economic Understanding
